Dear Friends & Partners,
It’s hard to believe that seven years have passed since I stepped into the role of CEO at My Community Dental Centers. As I reflect on this past year, and on my time serving this organization, I feel a deep sense of gratitude for the people and purpose that have shaped our work.
MCDC’s mission is clear: to provide access to quality dental care for all. That mission isn’t just something we state, it’s something our teams live every day. Last year alone, we served over 80,0000 patients across Michigan. Behind every number is a child receiving their first dental visit, a senior finding relief from pain, a parent able to smile confidently again, or a veteran who finally has access to consistent care. Those individual stories are what give meaning to our work.
This past year, like many before it, brought its share of complexity. The health care environment continues to evolve, workforce shortages remain a reality, and the pressures on safety-net providers are significant. Yet what has stayed constant is our team. I have watched team members remain committed through some of the most challenging seasons, not because it was easy, but because they believe deeply in our mission. That kind of steady commitment may not make headlines, but it is what keeps our mission alive.
Together, we focused on strengthening the core of MCDC by improving how we work, investing in our people, and deepening the partnerships that allow us to serve communities effectively. Each step we took was rooted in our mission and centered on ensuring continuity of care for the patients and families who depend on us.
As I prepare to transition from this role, my gratitude rests with the individuals who carry this work forward every day. To the staff who lead with compassion, to the partners and funders who support access to care, and to the Board whose guidance has strengthened this organization, this work continues because of you.
I leave with confidence in the strength of this team and the clarity of our purpose. MCDC remains firmly rooted in its mission and well-positioned for the work ahead. Thank you for your partnership and your continued commitment to providing access to quality dental care for all.
With appreciation,
Dr.Brown
Dear Friends & Supporters,
At the center of it all remains our mission: to provide access to quality dental care for all. That purpose guides our daily operations and informs our long-term direction.
The progress reflected in this report is the result of seven years of steady leadership. This year marks the conclusion of Dr. Brown’s tenure as CEO. On behalf of the Board of Directors, I extend our sincere appreciation for her service to MCDC and to the communities we are privileged to serve. Her leadership strengthened the organization’s operational foundation, deepened strategic partnerships, and reinforced our commitment to responsible stewardship within a complex and evolving health care landscape. She was also a thoughtful and persistent advocate, ensuring that the needs of the communities we serve were represented in conversations that shape access to care across Michigan.
The Board’s responsibility is to ensure that MCDC remains firmly rooted in its mission while upholding financial integrity, organizational stability, and long-term sustainability. That responsibility is especially important during leadership transitions. We approach this moment with clarity and confidence in the enduring strength of this organization.
MCDC is supported by a capable leadership team, a dedicated workforce, and community partners who share our commitment to access and quality. The strategic priorities established in recent years remain in place, and the Board is fully engaged in supporting a thoughtful and steady transition.
We are grateful to our staff, funders, partners, and community stakeholders whose trust makes this work possible. Together, we move forward grounded in our shared values and guided by a mission that extends beyond any single leader.
Dr. Brown, we thank you for your leadership, your advocacy, and your steadfast commitment to this mission. We wish you continued success in the work ahead.
With respect & appreciation,
Susan Moran, RN
